Made for Dune Season
Out in the far southeast corner of California, along the Arizona line, there's a band of sand more than 40 miles long and about 5 miles wide. It's the largest mass of sand dunes in the state. Most people know it by one word: Glamis.
For half the year it's too hot to touch. Summer days run well past 100 degrees. Then fall comes, the BLM permit season opens on October 1 and the place wakes up. Trucks and toy haulers roll in on Highway 78 from Brawley and on I-8 from El Centro and Yuma. Camps go up along Gecko Road, out on Glamis Flats and down past Buttercup. By Friday night there's a city where there wasn't one on Monday.
Then the weekends. Halloween opens the season. Thanksgiving is the biggest of the year: the Imperial County Sheriff's Office estimated about 117,000 people on the dunes over Thanksgiving weekend 2023. Then New Year's, Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and Presidents' Day, which the BLM puts at roughly 100,000 to 150,000 visitors. Families who have camped in the same spot for years. Crews who only see each other out here. Kids learning to ride on the flats.
Days are for the sand: the bowls, the ridges, the crowd lined up at Oldsmobile Hill to watch the hill shots, the long run out to the overlook. Nights belong to the camps. Fires, generators, music, and up on the hills a moving river of lit-up whips, every vehicle flying its flag in the dark.
That's who Glamis Swag is for. Not the people who saw a photo of it. The people who load up every season and go.
Glamis Swag is gear for that crowd: big, loud designs about the sand, the machines and the camps, made to be worn and stuck on everything out there. Riders bring their own stories to Glamis. This is merch for telling them.
What we make
Tees and hoodies for camp and the cold desert nights, embroidered hats for the sun on the hill, decals and stickers for the rig and the cooler, and flags for the whip and the camp. Designed for this place and this crowd.
Ride right
Permit on the windshield, flag on the whip, helmet on and no glass at camp. Know the rules before you go: BLM Imperial Sand Dunes rules.
